Indian Ocean Paddlers

Established in 2009, the Indian Ocean Paddlers, or IOP, have been at the centre of ocean paddling in Western Australia.

Over these years, we have seen ocean paddling grow into a popular choice of sports for men and women of all ages and abilities.

If you are interested in joining us for a paddle, we paddle Saturday mornings from Sorrento Beach to prepare the group for the long distances races throughout the season.

After each session, we meet at either the Sorrento Surf Club Cafe or The SO Cafe for a coffee and a chat, mostly to talk about how well we paddled.

The 2026/27 IOP Summer Series

The 2026/27 Summer Series of racing is upon us. As the sea breeze starts to replenish its stores and sets itself to blow along the coast, paddlers from all over are fine-tuning their skills and preparing their bodies and craft for a summer to remember.

Make sure you mark these dates in your calendar, starting with the first race of the 2026/27 series from Swanbourne to Sorrento, this Saturday, 12 September.
